Ramona Gardens Park

Creating a gathering place in the heart of the coastal community of Grover Beach, CA is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Centrally located a few blocks from the ocean and rolling dunes of Pismo State Beach, Ramona Gardens Park is a community-centered space and popular venue for local events.

Knowing that the park is a treasure for the City and South County, our team was meticulously focused on a timely, community-driven design. We streamlined the design process, provided clear and concise bid documents, and allowed for maximum flexibility with a phased construction approach that leveraged funding as it became available. To this end, we proposed progressive stages of plan development, with City participation early on and throughout the design process. Formal review submittals were set at 20%, 65%, and 95% design and the project was split into four separate bid sets. From the beginning, it was crucial to truly understand the scope of each phase and treat them each as standalone projects that worked in with the entire site phasing and build-out. The bid documents for each of the four phases were distinguishable so that they can be bid clearly, independently, and at different times. This approach is paying dividends, and the first two phases of the park are scheduled to break ground mid-June of 2025.
