Nexus Vespera on Ocean Hotel
Project Description:
The Nexus Vespera on Ocean hotel is a major development in Pismo Beach that lies adjacent to the Pismo beachfront, where guests can enjoy impressive views of the ocean and have direct access to downtown Pismo Beach. Vespera became the first podium project for Wallace Group where project managers were able to integrate with many different disciplines. The existing site drainage provided innovative design opportunities to utilize the lot’s natural infiltration characteristics and reduce stormwater runoff. A unique challenge to the project was offsetting the hotel’s estimated water usage by funding local water conservation projects. Wallace Group was tasked with identifying and coordinating potential projects in the community, calculating the anticipated water savings, and gaining approval from the City Engineer. Water saving projects were completed at two local schools, along the Caltrans 101 Corridor, at a local Home Owner’s Association, and at several community parks. In total, Wallace Group calculated a water savings of approximately 19.3 acre-ft of water per year. This helped neutralize the City’s water supply while also supporting local retrofit projects. Not only were our engineers heavily involved in the project, our landscape architects took on the task of replacing ice plant with native plants. Embodying an upscale beach house-inspired design, Vespera on the Ocean offers a fun, energetic, and stylish escape for guests to relax, unwind, and enjoy the best of Pismo Beach. The hotel now supports active travelers and encourages attraction and revenue to downtown Pismo.
