City of Paso Robles Pine Street Long-Term Parking
Project Description:
As part of a regional approach, the City of Paso Robles worked with San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG) to identify locations to increase options to vehicular travel. The Pine Street parking lot is located in downtown Paso Robles and adjacent to the Amtrak rail stop and transit services. Wallace Group was retained by the City of Paso Robles to prepare a conceptual design and the Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) package for a long-term parking lot. This capital improvement project provided additional long-term parking facilities and community access to the City’s Historic Depot Commercial Center at Pine Street. The improvements are a combination of new on-street parking and an off-street lot that included permeable pavement, motorcycle parking, bicycle racks, street lighting, and utility stub-outs for future connection of electric vehicle charging stations. ADA compliant pedestrian pathways were designed to provide access to adjacent roadways as well as adjacent transit facilities and commercial areas. The lot was designed to maximize parking while providing landscape amenities, protecting existing oak trees, and including swales and basins to improve stormwater quality.
Project Highlights:
- 43 new parking spaces
- Stormwater quality features including pervious concrete paving, basins and swales
- ADA accessible paths and pedestrian access bridge
- Landscaping for retaining and infiltrating stormwater
