Chamisal Vineyards
Project Description:
Wallace Group completed design and construction of an improved winery wastewater reclamation system for a 100,000 case-per-year wine production facility. The treatment system is designed to meet state-mandated discharge requirements for land disposal and vineyard irrigation, offsetting potable water pumping of the groundwater basin. The project was designed to minimize visual, noise, and odor impacts in order to maintain a desirable setting for the winery’s nearby tasting room and surrounding neighbors. A second phase of the design included a large effluent storage and stormwater capture reservoir. Utilizing the facility’s roughly 3 acres of roof and parking area, the stormwater capture pond is able to further reduce groundwater pumping for vineyard irrigation. Wallace Group assisted the client with a successful application for a State Water Efficiency & Enhancement Program (SWEEP) Grant to assist the client with overall project costs.
Project Highlights:
- System operates 25% below industry standard for electrical requirements
- System treats up to 12,500 gallons of process wastewater per day
- Treated water is re-use on site
- Sustainable
